The NEXTgen M Conference was a great success!

We had 256 register to attend. A huge thank you to all those who participated in this Baltimore-first event to promote additive manufacturing. Here is a sample of what some RMI board members had to say:

“Best RMI event ever!”  -Dan Goldberger
“I learned so much that day. RMI is engaging people across many industries in a new vision for manufacturing.”  –Susan Ganz
“We gave everyone a look at the future of digital manufacturing and the opportunities for our region.”  -Jan Baum
“RMI is Maryland’s industry leader and the NEXTgen-M Conference on rapid technologies proved that.”  -Peter Gourlay
“The Economic  Alliance of Greater Baltimore applauds RMI’s leadership, and we will continue to support RMI  in advancing next-generation manufacturing.”  -Tom Sadowski

Over 25 exhibitors participated in the event. We will continue to work with everyone that attended by hosting a series of conversations to identify action steps for promoting digital manufacturing.

Mike at MEDA
Last week, I presented a fun and informative Ignite presentation at the Maryland Economic Development Association’s (MEDA) conference on Maryland manufacturing. RMI board member Jan Baum also presented at Ignite MEDA on additive manufacturing and the future of our industry.

Anirban Basu of the Sage Policy Group reported at the conference that Maryland continues to see a decline in manufacturing jobs while other states are showing growth. For the third year in a row, Basu warned the audience of over 250 representing Maryland economic development leadership, that we cannot ignore Maryland manufacturing in light of the drop in business in federal contracts. Let’s hope someone will work with RMI to change that.
