Matching Funds to Support the Purchase of Industry 4.0 Technologies

House Bill 622 introduced by Delegate Lily Qi, calls for a matching grant program for the purchase, implementation, and related employee training of Industry 4.0 technology and related infrastructure in order to increase productivity, efficiency and competitiveness in the State and National Manufacturing environments.

To qualify:

  • Must be a Maryland SME Manufacturer ( NAICS 31, 32, or 33)
  • Purchase must be a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $500,000
  • The state provides matching funds up to 50%
  • Covers the cost of equipment, implementation, and related employee training

Delegates Qi, Phillips and Stonko introduced HB 622 to create a matching grant program. Delegate Qi is the lead sponsor of the bill. Delegate Qi served as Chair of the legislative workgroup that sent several recommendations to Governor Moore to support the future of Maryland manufacturing. Creating a grant program was a key recommendation for that workgroup. Delegate Qi is a friend of manufacturers.
