Mr. Sanders is a seasoned Executive in the Aerospace & Defense industry. He is a former Test Pilot & as well as President of two small businesses in the aerospace industry. He is currently one of three partners in “Tobacco Barn Distillery” a farm-based distillery growing corn onsite to manufacture Bourbon in Maryland.

Mr. Sanders retired from the Navy with the rank of Rear Admiral. He was a “drilling reservist” meaning, he held a civilian job concurrently with his military assignment. He was   Vice Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain and Deputy Commander of U.S. Second Fleet in Norfolk. He was this nations’ first drilling reservist since WWII to command an at-sea task force when he commanded Counter-Piracy operations (Coalition Task Force 151) off the coast of Somalia in 2009-2010.

Mr. Sanders possesses the rare blend of an accomplished military officer, successful businessman, entrepreneur and manufacturer. He started Tobacco Barn Distillery in 2014 with two other partners. They have been making Bourbon for over nine years now and were recently named “America’s #1 Farm Distillery” by the American Craft Spirits Association (see photo with Governor Moore).

In addition to brining this national manufacturing award to Maryland in 2023, Mr. Sanders spearheaded the rapid response during COVID to manufacturing hand sanitizer for First Responders of St. Mary’s County. His efforts were lauded and recognized by Congressman Steny Hoyer (see attached photo).

Tobacco Barn Distillery not only manufactures in Maryland, but it uses Maryland agriculture products in its whiskeys, thereby supporting Maryland agriculture and manufacturing at the same time.
