Peyton Carter is a summer intern with Phoenix Mecano who participated in the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Internship as well. Peyton has shown a dedication to learning and growth.  She has been willing to overcome difficulties and committed to excellence and professional development. This hands-on experience working in the engineering field has been transformative.

Peyton explained how the internship experience bridges a gap between classroom learning and real-life job experiences. By immersing herself in the role of a design engineer, she’s been able to develop a deeper understanding of the practical skills and nuances required in the field. This is giving her a much more complete perspective than what she could ever learn from a textbook. Peyton is especially enthusiastic about applying CAD skills to real-world projects, likening it to a creative outlet with defined constraints. Peyton also emphasized the value of gaining exposure to different job roles and processes within the industry, providing a comprehensive understanding of potential careers.

Peyton has shown she is proactive, and adaptable with a growth-oriented approach to this internship and to the future. She’s an admirable intern who other aspiring engineers, as well as others looking to work at Phoenix Mecano, can look up to.

Peyton attends Boston College where she majors in Human Centered Engineering.
