N. Scott Phillips is a remarkable individual who approaches life with compassion and persistence in all he does. “Scott’s deep and abiding faith in the worth and dignity of individuals is based on his values and his purpose in life – service to others,” said Dr. Mike Galiazzo, President, Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland (RMI).
As Director for the Baltimore Minority Business Development Agency Advanced Manufacturing Center, Scott works tirelessly to create opportunities for minority manufacturers in Maryland and other areas of the Mid-Atlantic Region connecting them through the federally funded technical assistance program to capital, contracts, domestic and global markets, and strategic business consulting. Under his leadership, the Center serves more than 70 manufacturing clients and provides industry outreach and specialized industry training referrals to nearly 400 customers. He is also the founder of the MiHUB Cooperative (Manufacturing Innovation HUB), a jointly owned and operated cooperative for minority manufacturers.
In 2022 Scott was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates. In his elected role, Scott is an advocate for the manufacturing community. He was a co-sponsor of the Manufacturing 4.0 grant legislation, he was appointed to the Maryland Manufacturing Advisory Board, and he has authored several bills focused on supporting and growing small and minority businesses. He truly believes manufacturing provides a pathway from poverty to prosperity.
