Getting Maryland's General Assembly and Governor Moore’s Administration team to learn about advanced technologies changing the manufacturing world is ongoing. Michael Raphael, owner and President of Owings Mills-based Direct Dimensions has won over legislators and critical government members with his 3D scanning and printing technologies. In partnership with the Regional Manufacturing Institute (RMI), Maryland MEP, and University of Maryland students, Michael scanned legislators' heads and printed 3D versions of each. Additionally, in partnership with Maryland-based Xometry, he produced 3D full-bodied colored scans/prints of Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Senate President Ferguson, and House Speaker Adrienne Johnes. Governor Moore is next.
"Over the years, many legislators have enthusiastically spoken to me about their 3D-printed heads," said Dr. Mike Galiazzo, president of RMI. “My conversations with legislators about the importance of manufacturing in Maryland and Industry 4.0 technologies often begin with them discussing 3D printing." Michael’s expertise, enthusiasm and personality always shine when he meets with people. He has made essential inroads in raising public policymakers' awareness of manufacturing technologies in a fun and meaningful way.
Michael Raphael, a Star whose light shines brightly, is nationally known for his work in 3D scanning and advanced digital technologies. He serves on the RMI Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Baltimore Museum of Industry Board of Directors, just two of his many roles serving Marylanders.
