In 2013 Jaime Windon launched Maryland’s first cane-to-glass distillery in over 40 years. Today, the Windon Distilling Company is a proud manufacturer of spirits on the Eastern Shore, hand-crafting small batches of award-winning LYON RUM from American sugar cane.
Growing the distillery into a successful, dynamic company employing and training young women and men, while working to help the industry thrive is one of Jaime’s proudest accomplishments. At the burgeoning craft spirits industry’s forefront, she took a leadership role in advocating for more sensible laws for manufacturers and consumers, on local, state and federal levels.
A founding member of the Maryland Distillers Guild, she was president for seven years, and continues as Government Affairs Committee Chair, while serving on the Board of the American Craft Spirits Association. She actively participates in the National Small Business Association and the Advisory Commission on Maryland Alcohol Manufacturing and other boards and organizations, and served as a Town Commissioner in Saint Michaels.
Jaime has worked in hospitality and the arts, and is passionate about customer service and education. Having traveled across the globe, living and working in large cities and remote villages – from Washington, DC to London, England and Lamu Island, Kenya, her titles have also included journalist, teacher, photographer, bartender, innkeeper, storyteller, actress, activist, and legislator.
Jaime aims to approach issues with an open mind and generous spirit, seeking solutions that make sense for all parties. She is a relentless advocate for change and progress that benefit small business owners and empowers entrepreneurs.
