When Delegate Lily Qi introduced legislation to create a Manufacturing 4.0 program (M4.0) at the Maryland Department of Commerce, it required the Maryland House of Delegates and Maryland Senate support. Delegate Vanessa Atterbeary, Chair of the House Ways & Means Committee, was pivotal in the bill receiving a favorable report from her committee. The final bill became law; today, the M 4.0 program at Commerce is a centerpiece of significant support for Maryland manufacturers. The M4.0 program provides matching funds for small to medium-sized Maryland manufacturers whose companies are committed to Industry 4.0 strategies, including upgrading equipment and worker training to be globally competitive. Technology and talent are two key factors driving Maryland's economy forward in a world of rapid transformation. Governor Moore recently increased funding for the M 4.0 program.
