Christine (Chris) Plater
The Project Resource Group
Baltimore County

Chris Plater has spent her career helping others achieve goals. No Maryland industry has benefitted more from her efforts than manufacturing. For 35 years, she has supported Maryland manufacturing. Her work includes helping the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland (RMI) manage projects and events, identifying opportunities for the organization and its constituents, and ensuring diversity and inclusion in everything RMI undertook. As a consultant to the Mid-Atlantic Region Minority Business Development Agency Advanced Manufacturing Center, she is a staunch champion and business resource for manufacturers in underserved communities. Through the Maryland Economic Development Association, she rallies manufacturers’ support for economic development scholarships.

A self-proclaimed Maryland commerce department “alumna,” before retirement, Chris staffed the Governor’s manufacturing commission, industry training programs, establishment of regional and industry sector teams, TEDCO, the Maryland World Class Consortia, and other functions still serving Maryland businesses today. Trading as Maryland With Pride, Chris promotes Maryland-made products and encourages locals and those outside of Maryland to “Buy Maryland.” Partnering with RMI, she helped secure Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development funding for, a digital “buy-Maryland” directory, launching in time for the holiday gift shopping season.

RMI President Mike Galiazzo said this about what she’s done and continues to do for Maryland’s manufacturing industry: “Chris has been a constant in RMI’s ever-evolving quest to advocate for Maryland manufacturing as an instrument of social change. It has been a pleasure to work with someone as fiercely dedicated and compassionate as Chris Plater, one of Maryland manufacturing’s brightest stars!”
