Bonnie Kelly is a Maryland Manufacturing Star because of her impact on local students and support of their career growth & career opportunities within Manufacturing in St. Mary’s County.

The Forrest Career & Technology Center is an integral part of the manufacturing workforce development pipeline in St. Mary’s County and thanks to Bonnie Kelly, students in the program are afforded fantastic youth apprenticeship opportunities and get to experience in-depth tours on-site at St. Mary’s County manufacturing businesses annually on Manufacturing Day (first Friday in October). Over the last several years, Bonnie and the Forrest Tech Center have worked with St. Mary’s County Economic Development to coordinate students within the Manufacturing Engineering Technology, CADD, Engineering, and most recently Electrical Wiring programs at Forrest Tech Center to get hands-on tours of multiple companies to see their innovative manufacturing equipment, interact with their employees (many of which are former Forrest Tech Center students themselves), and see the incredible products the local manufacturers are making.

Additionally, Bonnie’s efforts supporting the Tech Jobs Rule youth apprenticeship program has helped several students move from the Forrest Tech Center directly into full-time jobs at local manufacturing companies!
