Where do we even begin in describing why Dr. Mike Galiazzo, President of Regional Manufacturing Institute (RMI) of Maryland, deserves recognition as a Maryland manufacturing star? Dr. Galiazzo has spent his lifetime dedicated to helping others personally and professionally, with decades of his efforts dedicated to Maryland’s manufacturing industry.

With a belief that “manufacturing is an instrument of social change,” Dr. Galiazzo has invested countless time and resources in advocating for the industry. His advocacy involves a tenacious pursuit of educating public policymakers, employers, educators, and other stakeholders about the value of creating new job and career opportunities throughout Maryland, where each county uniquely supports a robust manufacturing community. Dubbed the “Godfather of Maryland Manufacturing” by Congressman Steny Hoyer, Dr. Galiazzo’s bold and innovative ideas, relentless support for the industry and passion for helping others have made him the most respected go-to individual for Maryland manufacturing.

It was Dr. Galiazzo who created RMI of Maryland nearly 35 years ago. Today, under his continued leadership as President, this small-but-mighty organization enjoys a reputation as the leading advocacy organization for Maryland manufacturing, not to mention as an organization that knows how to host educational and fun events that attract hundreds of Maryland manufacturing stakeholders.

For Dr. Galiazzo, serving as RMI’s President, is so much more than a job. It’s what motivates him to want to start each day with manufacturing on his mind and a spring in his step. He truly cares about the people in the industry and the people the industry can help to lead more economically rewarding lives.

Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living by what you get and a life by what you give.” No one exemplifies this better than Dr. Mike Galiazzo.
