Wyatt Harrison is in the business of manufacturing moments. In 2012, while working at a surf shop on the Ocean City boardwalk, he had the idea to start taking custom orders for printing customers photos on wood. He kept working on the product, offered wholesale to stores across Maryland, and eventually got a VOLT loan to bring production in-house in West Ocean City.

Under Wyatt’s leadership, today, Plak That is not only printing images of Marylanders’ bright moments on wood, metal, and acrylics. With customers like Anheuser-Bush, Toad & Company, and others locally and across the nation, Wyatt and his team are helping to put Maryland and this niche industry on the map.

“It’s exciting to be a part of so many moments and events,” Wyatts says, “like when someone wins a competition and is handed a Plak That award, or a new small business owner’s dream comes to life when Plak That installs the company’s new sign and they are open for business." His purchase of equipment to handle in-house production, including a UV flatbed printer, CNC router, and laser engraving machine, allowed the business to stay nimble through COVID.

From the start, Wyatt has been focused on giving back to the community and Plak That has been a member of 1% for the Planet. In addition, he is on the board for Assateague Coastal Trust, a nonprofit focused on preserving and protecting the quality of water in the Ocean City area.
